The
following is an outline of the process I use when consulting on
a web site. Please contact me if you
have additional questions.
- Site Review: If you already
have a web site I will review your existing web site and
note ways to reorganize, optimize and to make it more
user-friendly. If this is a new web site you would like
me to help you with I will have you fill out my questionnaire
to understand your goals and will come up with a design.
|
- Review Results: The results
of my review or new design can be sent via email or in
a personal meeting. This gives us the opportunity to go
over my ideas and to understand your ideas and needs for
the web site.
|
- Create an FDD: After we
have reached agreement after the review, I will write
a Functional Design Document (FDD). The FDD would outline
each page of the existing site and how each page should
be changed and what the final look of each page should
be. It would also outline any new pages that may need
to be created. The FDD will act as instructions to your
development staff regarding the final look of the web
site. Your development staff will make all the technical
decisions about how the goal is achieved. If you have
a team to test the web site they would use the FDD as
well to create their test cases and ensure the web site
is working as designed.
|
- FDD Review: I will provide you and your team the initial
version of the FDD for review. Provide me any feedback,
changes, and additions. I will make any necessary updates
to the document and resubmit. We can go back and forth
as much, or as little, as you need. Time spent on this
would vary based on the amount of changes required.
|
- FDD Hand-off: Once you
have approved the FDD I will provide you the final version
to provide to your technical team.
